Collapsing towers C C

Flabbergasting
The bone breaking twin towers collapsed right in front of my star strucked eyes. I feel amazed and frightened at the same time. I feel shocked that people might be under those bumbling towers.

I can hear bricks cracking, windows breaking and people screaming. I can hear the twin towers lurching towards other buildings next to them.

I can see people running for their lives and people falling out of windows. People are lying injured on the ground. Smoke and dust darken the terrifying scene. Its like the towers are playing dominoes.

The smell of gunpowder and smoke fills my nostrils. The towers are falling over like a cow with one leg. I can smell ashes surrounding the towers like tigers surrounding their meat. There is as much grease as a petrol station.

Collapsing buildings K J T

Flabbergasting! The munching racket of cracking bricks blows my ears up like one thousand laughs. I hear gasps, groans and grumbles; another, screaming in awe. The painting inside is probably moaning like Lisa. I feel almost incapacitated, also hurt. I breathe in, it feels like one hundred mobsters are whacking my lungs one by one.
I watch as the crippled tower falls as if it were an old man having a heart attack. I weaken in flame. Everywhere is burnt rubble. My tears disappear like bananas to monkeys.
The smell of suspense awakens me like Batman and Joker. The taste of revenge is like kids with their toys. They have it for a while and then never comes again. K.J.T

Tie dye milk experiment J M and S W

Purpose-to see what happens when three different type of matter are combined.
Hypothesis-we think the food colouring will spread away from each others and the dishwashing liquid will stay on the top of the coloured milk.
Materials-food colouring,bowl,teaspoon,cotton bud,dishwashing liquid and milk.
Procedure
  • Pour milk into bowl.
  • carefully add food colouring into milk -3 different colours.
  • dip cotton bud into dishwashing liquid.
  • dip cotton bud into the middle of the milk and food colouring.
Result-
  • When you pour the dye into the milk it floats on top of the milk.
  • The dishwashing liquid made the food colourings spread around the dishwashing liquid and mix them into a colourful pattern.

fishing C.M

It was Monday and an adult told the  people who wanted to go fishing, to go. I was keen to.  I  cast my rod pretty far then something bit my line. It came to the wharf but I did not know what it was. We were walking back to the house and then we saw a stingray. Omg! I had nearly caught a stingray! My friend  was so shocked that I was so close to catching a stingray. :)

Camp Moment in time A.L.B

I felt confident and scared when Erin sent us off to start our adventure. On the Tuesday, session 3, group 1 went and did kayaking with Erin. I saw heaps of boats that were going past us, they were making lots and lots of waves. I felt water going into my kayak that was making me saturated. I felt as wet as a slimy dolphin. I heard the bottoms of the kayaks scraping on the rocks and people talking. My lips tasted like salt and sea water which reminded me of salt and vineger chips. When I arrived back at the beach I felt so good to be back at Camp Bentzon.

Kawau Mrs F

A wary group of campers on the last night at Kawau. We've battled rain, lightening, thunder, Killer Hill, slippery slopes and cheeky wekas. We have overcome obstacles such as broken bones, wet confidence courses, arm bruises (from archery) and no wind for sailing.
We have had an awesome time and go home with terrific memories.

Killer Hill C.C.

Today we went for tramp up killer hill and I know why they call it killer hill because it almost killed me. We were surrounded by manuka and moss that was like a trampoline and I bounced on it a few times. After a while everyone thought they saw a wallaby. We stopped at a pack of rocks called Carn, so me and some of my friends added on rocks that we found on the way there. After an hour we found another pack of rocks but they were red, we stopped there and had some biscuits and enjoyed the veiw and then headed back to our dorms.

KAYAKING by T.H

On Tuesday the 7th of May Group 1 did
kayaking, Erin and Parent helpers
helped out to make sure we knew what we were doing.
Once they finished explaining we got sent out to the pontoon on our kayaks and held onto
each other to practice what we would do if a boat came. When Erin knew that we could do it she took Group 1 out to Survival Island.
The best part was seeing Love heart cave because the exit looked like a love heart. We had a bit of a swim
and got in our kayaks and went back to camp Bentzon where our kayaking adventure had ended.

Kawau Island Sailing N H

I just came back from Bivouac making, I'm all sweaty and tired and can't wait for some relaxing sailing. The wind wasn't  strong on that day, so it was more like a peaceful ride along the water. It wasn't like a speeding ferry or super rocking waves, just peace and quiet. My partner was Erika, since it was the first time, I didn't dare go solo. I was in charge of the sail and Erika was in charge of the tiller. We had to sail to the red roofed house and back to the red playground. When we finished our sailing I was happy, me and Erika made a great team!!!

Fitness trail T.K.

The fitness trial was really fun. We had to go under and over things and zig zag through things. You also had to crawl under a muddy net and climb over one too. The track was really narrow. The brown and green trees were surrounding the track on both sides. When we were going uphill and downhill it felt like we were going to slip. It was still wet and muddy from the night before. Lots of the kids didn't walk down the hill, they ran and rolled.
I stood in the rain waiting to board the bus and when I finally did we were off to Sandspit. When we reached Sandspit we waited for the rain to stop and then boarded the ferry to Kawau island. It was a short trip on the ferry, at least it seemed like it. On Tuesday we had our first three activities. I was in group one and we started with sailing. It was amazing, we sailed in circles but it felt like I was a dolphin gliding through the water. After morning tea we went to the confidence course, I sadly couldn't do it but I took heaps of photos. Our last activity of the day was kayaking. We were the first group to reach Survivor island and it was so cool.  On Wednesday we explored some New Zealand history at the Mansion house. There were wekas, peacocks and ducks  and I learnt heaps about the Mansion house. On Thursday we did our last activities and first we had archery. I stood up and shot my first arrow,  I felt like jumping for joy when I hit the 9 but I kept it inside. Next we went to bivouac making and only the girls bivouac survived. For our free choice activity I picked archery and I was getting worse I think I could bearly even hit the target but I still felt proud. All together it was a fantastic camp!
