WEARABLE ARTS
Wow, last night was awesome.
I really liked Chelsea's dress and face paint. Before we went on, my mum helped with face paint and make up. It was really cool. Sadly Tyla couldn't be there with us because she was sick. So I walked down the cat walk with Anna. It was a lot of fun but we walked very fast. I wish I walked slower. The audience really appreciated us and our costumes. Well done room 12.
Wednesday nights wearable arts. C.P
Gee, last night was amazing! I bet all of the parents and I mean, all of the parents must have enjoyed looking at room 12's creations. My make-up was amazing. I looked liked a fairy. The lady that did my make-up is very good at designing.
All of the other classes were amazing.
Lucas, Kyle and Cameron's kowhaiwhai designs on their faces were spectacular.
Anna, Tyla and Lucy's costumes were really creative, I bet ya everyone liked them
. After the show was over we all got to play on our iPod, iPad and androids.

I was so disappointed that I didn't come to wearable arts.
On the phone my mum said I could go but at 6:30 my dad came to pick me up.
I said I was really late.
My dad said that my mum said that I was not aloud to go because I was sick.
I was so sad I couldn't go.
I had lots of wonderful dreams about that night.
I wish I had come.
YAY!

Boy last night was epic, I looked
fantastic. My partner was Clayton we walked down the runway like pros. Clayton was
wearing paper claw,s a hat and a thing. I had gloves with feathers on them. I was
holding a baton thT sprayed material and around and on my neck was a polyester
cape. On my head was a brown white and black beanie. I felt enthusiastic. I touched
my baton and I heard people screaming for me when I sprayed my material. I saw my friends
waving to me.
In summary I believe that the evening was successful because me and Clayton were at our best. We held the class together!!! After that the class played on their devices. I played on the computer. And that was the wearable arts show.

Everyone was cheering for me, Tamilini and Akiesha. Lucy's mum did our make up. I don't know how she did it, but it looked outstanding. My costume had a belt, a purse, an anklet and some pieces of hair. We made that all by our selves.

Wearable Arts Night By:A.H
Last night the Senior Syndicate took to the stage to perform their wonderful wearable arts. We all looked outstanding with our make up and face paint on. The boys looked like mighty warriors with their faces painted in Maori patterns. The performance was spectacular and our costumes were awesome. I had so much fun walking down the catwalk with Nuoya and Teagan, we danced, laughed and looked amazing! Afterwards we went back to room 12 and played on our iPod s and i pads then we went to room 13 and watched Wreck it Ralph.

Marae and manamagaroa reserve walk
Yesterday, me, Clayton and my mum were sitting in the bus . First we went to Edgewater college to go in the Marae. We waited about five minutes. I thought they were putting on makeup but I was wrong, they were setting up, or something like that. The Maori name for Edgewater is Te taha wai, I think.
Edgewater Marae trip and Bushwalk S.W.
On 27th of August room 12 and room 14 went to Edgewater Marae, when we got there Mrs.Foot gave us instruction so we could behave inside the marae. The marae lady told us about the marae, what they told us is that the marae is actually our marae. After, we were told to go to the toilet then we went to the dining room and have morning tea, we had orange juice and biscuits. After morning tea we started our first activity, we started by learning what Maori people needs to know. After that we started drawing maori patterns on black paper. Later, group 2 came in, at that time we went back to the main room. The marae lady told us about the carvings of the ancestors of maori people. We were allowed to sketch the ancestors. After group 2 came in and sat with us. We sang our school song to the marae ladies and went back to our school bus.
A few minuets later we arrived at the reserve, we had lunch over there. After lunch we started our bushwalk. We saw some cow poop at the start, we had to dodge them on our way to the bush, finally we dodged them, phew! We started our bushwalk. We saw some Somerville students doing cross country in the bush, Suddenly Mrs Foot heard birds singing and told us to be silent. We heard the birds sing, ( to me ) it was pretty good. Later on we carried on walking and again Somerville students were running through us as fast as dogs chasing cats. We saw some plants with funny shapes. When we got out of the bush, we had to dodge cow poop again. Finally we made it to our bus.

The Bush Walk and the Marea ALB
On Tuesday the 27 of August Room12 and Room14 visited Edgewater Marae. In maori they call it Te Taha Wai. When we got there there was a lady welcoming us in. We were in groups, my group was with Miss Rahdu and 15 kids from room 14 and room12. My group did drawing of our ancestors, then we went and did sketching, that was fun. I liked the Marae. After that we had to go on the bus to Mangemangeroa.
Later we went on a bush walk at Mangemangeroa Reserve for a bush walk. We went for inspiration. The Mangemangeroa reserve was near Sommerville Intermediate . We had our lunch on a really big hill on a blue tarp. Our journey through the trees was awesome. The birds sung a charming song, they were entertaining us with there songs while we were clicking our cameras. My favourite thing was seeing all the wonderful trees and the waterfall, that was fun. When we finished the walk through the bush we went for a run and my friend stept in cow poo, yuck! It was so muddy I got mud on my legs and my shoes. It was so much fun. Then we had to come back to school and do boring school work.
Mangemangeora bush walk by KJ
On Tuesday the 27 of August room 12 and 14 went Edgewater college marae. The people at the marae greeted us in to the wonderful marae. We had some morning tea and then started our activities. We started by copying the ancestors on the wall, they were from different places like Tauranga and Chistchurch. The next activity was, we had to draw our family in koru's which was sort of weirdishly hard.
After the visit room 12 and 14 went to Mangemangaroa bush walk. We went for inspiration for our wearable art. When we first got out all we could smell was cow poo every where. Mangemangeora bush walk is near Somerville intermediate. We had our lunch on a steep hill on a tarpaulin. We started our journey into the wonderful bush walk. There was silver fern, mini water falls and green trees which looked like hulk. There were birds chirping away to the other birds, singing songs while we were clicking with our cameras. My favourite bit was when I took a picture of myself holding my house in my fingers, it was awesome! My least favourite thing was when I dropped my mum;s expensive camera in cow poo. When she saw it in cow poo she wasn't happy! We went back to the bus and left the smell of cow poo behind and went back to school.

Marae visit C.C.
On Tuesday 27th my classroom and room 14 went to Edgewater college marae and in maori they call it Te Taha Wai. We did some fun activities, one of them we made our own kowhaiwhai designs. On the other activity the people at the marae gave us a piece of sheet and we added the patterns from the ancestors and made our own patterns. When I started having fun they said we had to stop. They said a male usally calls us onto the marae but there were no males available so the ladies did. After that we went to the bus and were on another journey to Mangemangaora reserve. When we got there we put out our tarpaulin and had lunch. After 10 minutes we started walking. We started hearing the birds sing, we also saw some tiny waterfalls. We saw some amazing houses next to an estuary that came from Raglan. When we got to the top we could clearly see the gigantic estuary. We had to climb the fence and then lots of people sprinted up the hill. Then people started stepping in cow poo. My friend dropped his camera in poo. When we got back to the bus I saw a few cows and I really wanted to pat them. Back at school we had to do some boring work.

Book week
We had an author, illustator and editor come and talk to us about making books.
They were very interesting.
We learnt that authors are inspired by their own lives and experiences and that it is probably handy to keep a journal if you are planning to be a writer one day.

There once was a girl called cecelia and she was no order nary girl she lived in a ballon house and could understand animal .
Cecelia had a bedroom on the top of the ballon house she pretended she was a princess.
This book is about a girl called Cecelia who could understand animals and she lived in a balloon house. She went on a big adventure which began in a forest.
When she looked outside she could see a dark misty forest she alway tried not to look in that direction but she also could see her town.
One day she heard a bark from a dog, she could not tell what it was saying because she had to see the animal to understand it so she walked onto the deck and then she could see the animal. It was the next door neighbours dog.
It was saying, "help me I'm getting starved to death." But she didn't know what to do. Her neighbour was a mean shopkeeper. But, she had to do something so she walked to his house and asked if she could take the dog for a walk but he started yelling words that couldn't escape his mouth. So Cecelia ran home as fast as she could.
She had to think then she suddenly got an idea.
She would get a washing basket and tie balloons on each side and she did that. She had a sand bag on the bottom but it could float a little bit. She made sure she did it when the dog was out side. When she did it she had two strings attached to it, one for ripping the sand bag open and one for pulling the washing basket up. She let the washing basket go down, it just went over the fence. The dog went into the basket and Cecelia pulled the basket up .
Cecelia was proud but a few minutes later there was a thud. She could see her neighbour crashing into their house . She was on the top floor and she knew her dad was worried there would be an earth quake or something like that so he designed the top floor to float . So it floated near the forest, all she could do was hope not to land in the forest.
But she did. If you want to know what happens next, read the book.

After an amazing 30years of keeping our school in mint condition the fantastic Mr Johnson is hanging up his coat and retiring.
He has been an infinite part of Botany downs primary and we will lament his companionship.
He has looked after our school in many ways such as cleaning our bathrooms, getting bouncy balls and sports gear of the roof, lining up our sports fields for games and washing down dirty walls.
He always has a lot of time
for the students. He helps them learn new sports and is always a friendly person around our school. He's caring and is a special person and is always willing to help.
Mr Johnson has taken a big interest in ripper rugby, he has taught us girls how to play ripper rugby. He got us into the R.R tournaments but sadly we didn't get into the finals, but that doesn't matter because we worked as a team and tried our best. My highlight would have to be the R.R tournament. You had enough time to to take us and book us into the tournament and supported us the whole way through.
Thank you Mr Johnson for teaching me, C W R how to play ripper rugby.

Without you Mr Johnson the school will not be perfect.

Mr J has been at our school for many years and now he must leave.
Without Mr J our school wont be perfect.
He made time for everything for us, for the school and most important him,
If a ball got stuck on the roof he would get it down, if a toilet flooded he'd be there fixing it. Without him we wouldn't know what to do.
Mr J has taken a lot of interest in Ripper Rugby. he would spend his lunch times training a team either by class or team. His passion for ripper rugby meant he formed a team and he never gave up whether the team was bad or not, he still believed in them.
He did his job amazingly. If it was taking out the trash or getting something out of the sewer it didn't matter as long it was for the kids.
Doing it for the kids is what he does best!

Personification poem T.K.
The Swimming Pool
The entrance counter hands
out tickets for the pools.
Hydroslides swirl and twirl,
scaring everyone into the hot,
nurturing spas that bubble and
boil everyone.
Beach balls hop from swimmer
to swimmer, playing games.
Lanes guard the swimmer gliding
by for safety.
Whistle yells for the game to begin.
Waves tumble and turn and
swallow the swimmers.

Island I .W
Incredible sight
Super sun set
Likable smile
Artistic and awesome
Nature every where
Different style
Orange I.W
Orange
Tastes like nice juicy oranges freshly picked.
Smells like burnt toast thats been in the toaster too long.
Sounds like a roaring tiger stalking its prey.
Looks like a gloomy Halloween night.
Feels like Autumn leaves plunging off the trees
Looks like burning lava drawing near from a volcano.
Brave, fearless, warm

Black poem NH
Black
Tastes like black liquorish melted in the sun.Smells inky, dark and fearless.
Sounds sour and hollow like a bellowing horn.
Feels invisible to life, its the death at night. It can be light.
When you see it, it takes you on a dark journey, you can
imagine your're in space.
Black mascara and eyeliner dribbles down like blood when it swims in water.
Just like a cobra it's dangerous and spinechilling.
Dangerous, gloomy, moonless!

Black poem T.M
Black
Tastes like brand new capes flying away from Dracula's rock hard back .
Smells like terrifying vampires sucking children's blood at Halloween .
Feels like black and white magpies pecking my head in the trees .
Looks like Alfred Hitchcock running away on the really slippery path .
Angry , Scary , Devils ,terrifying .

green poem A.H
Green.............
Tastes like sweet and sour limes.
Smells attractive like fragrant pine needles dusting the roots of a pine tree.
Sounds like a pongy, slimy frog croaking on a blistering day.
Green is a proud standing shamrock.
Green is the soft feel of freshly mown grass.
Proud, Lucky, Calm, Fresh.
Tastes like sweet and sour limes.
Smells attractive like fragrant pine needles dusting the roots of a pine tree.
Sounds like a pongy, slimy frog croaking on a blistering day.
Feels soft and cushioning like a pillow.
Looks like a dwarfy leprechaun from Ireland.
Green is a proud standing shamrock.
Green is hope in life.
Green is the soft feel of freshly mown grass.
Proud, Lucky, Calm, Fresh.

Collapsing towers C C
Flabbergasting
The bone breaking twin towers collapsed right in front of my star strucked eyes. I feel amazed and frightened at the same time. I feel shocked that people might be under those bumbling towers.
I can hear bricks cracking, windows breaking and people screaming. I can hear the twin towers lurching towards other buildings next to them.
I can see people running for their lives and people falling out of windows. People are lying injured on the ground. Smoke and dust darken the terrifying scene. Its like the towers are playing dominoes.
The smell of gunpowder and smoke fills my nostrils. The towers are falling over like a cow with one leg. I can smell ashes surrounding the towers like tigers surrounding their meat. There is as much grease as a petrol station.
C.C.
Collapsing buildings K J T
Flabbergasting! The munching racket of cracking bricks blows my ears up like one thousand laughs. I hear gasps, groans and grumbles; another, screaming in awe. The painting inside is probably moaning like Lisa. I feel almost incapacitated, also hurt. I breathe in, it feels like one hundred mobsters are whacking my lungs one by one.
I watch as the crippled tower falls as if it were an old man having a heart attack. I weaken in flame. Everywhere is burnt rubble. My tears disappear like bananas to monkeys.
The smell of suspense awakens me like Batman and Joker. The taste of revenge is like kids with their toys. They have it for a while and then never comes again. K.J.T

Tie dye milk experiment J M and S W
Purpose-to see what happens when three different type of matter are combined.
Hypothesis-we think the food colouring will spread away from each others and the dishwashing liquid will stay on the top of the coloured milk.
Materials-food colouring,bowl,teaspoon,cotton bud,dishwashing liquid and milk.
Procedure
- Pour milk into bowl.
- carefully add food colouring into milk -3 different colours.
- dip cotton bud into dishwashing liquid.
- dip cotton bud into the middle of the milk and food colouring.
Result-
- When you pour the dye into the milk it floats on top of the milk.
- The dishwashing liquid made the food colourings spread around the dishwashing liquid and mix them into a colourful pattern.

fishing C.M
It was Monday and an adult told the people who wanted to go fishing, to go. I was keen to. I cast my rod pretty far then something bit my line. It came to the wharf but I did not know what it was. We were walking back to the house and then we saw a stingray. Omg! I had nearly caught a stingray! My friend was so shocked that I was so close to catching a stingray. :)

Camp Moment in time A.L.B
I felt confident and scared when Erin sent us off to start our adventure. On the Tuesday, session 3, group 1 went and did kayaking with Erin. I saw heaps of boats that were going past us, they were making lots and lots of waves. I felt water going into my kayak that was making me saturated. I felt as wet as a slimy dolphin. I heard the bottoms of the kayaks scraping on the rocks and people talking. My lips tasted like salt and sea water which reminded me of salt and vineger chips. When I arrived back at the beach I felt so good to be back at Camp Bentzon.

Kawau Mrs F
A wary group of campers on the last night at Kawau. We've battled rain, lightening, thunder, Killer Hill, slippery slopes and cheeky wekas. We have overcome obstacles such as broken bones, wet confidence courses, arm bruises (from archery) and no wind for sailing.
We have had an awesome time and go home with terrific memories.
